Presenter Information: Bio: Don Appleby is a Senior Systems Engineer with Mainline Information Systems, an IBM Premier Business Partner. He is also an adjunct assistant professor in UAB’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering where he teaches in the graduate program in Information Engineering and Management. Don retired from IBM in 2005 after a long career in marketing, technical support, and quality assurance that included responsibility for storage product quality assurance reviews throughout the United States. Abstract: My presentation is on “Vendor-Designed Solutions: The implementation risks of emerging technology (and how to manage them). “ I will give a QA perspective on the rollout of new IT products, identify the most common problems during the ramp-up phase, and suggest some key questions that customers should ask their vendors in order to identify and manage risk factors of which the customer may not even be aware. The goal of this presentation is to improve the implementation of leading-edge technologies by strengthening the technical partnership between technology vendors and their customers. | |
